A hooded knit dress is a classic style that has been trending in recent years. It is an essential fall and winter staple, keeps you cozy and warm, and can be worn with anything; boots or flats, skinny jeans or leggings. On those long cold days where the only interesting thing going on outside of your house is the weather report’s predictions for snow, I’ll just tell you not to buy this DIY for $5.99 at Old Navy or Forever 21 and be done with it. You can make your own for way cheaper and look like a million bucks.
I found this dress on sale at Old Navy. I checked the seasons’ discounts and saw that the price dropped even further, so I picked up a few to make one for myself. This dress is made out of a stretch jersey fabric with a light, soft linen feel. It isn’t see-through at all, which is nice because you can wear it with a cardigan or sweater. You can also wear it as an everyday piece for work, paired with some black tights and ankle boots or flats.
Hooded Knit Dress
Easy sewing, People say you can do everything with a sewing machine —yeah, you can! It’s one of the only things that I would recommend buying new from the store if you don’t already have one. Most sales are making them even cheaper than I will be talking about in this tutorial. You can get the pants that I made for $9 and the top for $7! I bought a total of four different colors of fabric because I wanted to make sure I had enough to work with. The first color I sewed up was white and purple mixed together. This was the most difficult one to sew. The pleats were too tight/too big, and the fit didn’t really feel like it was coming together correctly.
